Exploring Sweden’s role and impact in the global ombudsman community.
Sweden was the first country in the world to introduce a Parliamentary Ombudsman more than 200 years ago. Today, similar institutions exist in 140 countries across all continents.
Since the 1970s, JO has been engaged in international cooperation, actively participating in networks such as the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI). The collaboration prioritizes cooperation with Nordic and Baltic countries.
